Boisement Mauléon (79)
The project
The project involves planting hedgerows and a rustic orchard on a small 2-hectare plot of farmland in the north-east of the Deux-Sèvres department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France.
- Planting of 20 species of deciduous forest trees in the shrub hedge, and 31 species of hardy of hardy fruit trees in the orchard. The project sponsors are supplementing the planting with forest shrubs to form the hedge and thus add several layers of vegetation. The aim of the project is to preserve the hedgerows on a site located at the intersection of urban and agricultural areas. The area has been identified as a biodiversity reservoir, with the aim of preserving bocage environments (Schéma régional de Cohérence écologique). The species planted are adapted to the soil and to climate change, and help to maintain ecological continuity.
