A plantation of diverse species

The project is a woodland of diverse species, located on the site of a former equestrian centre pasture converted into a rural gîte, forming part of the continuity of an existing wood with the aim of improving the landscape.

A landscape project in the heart of the Loiret

The project is located at Batilly-en-Puisaye in the Loiret department, 50 km south of Montargis, close to the Loire and on the borders of the Gâtinais, Orléanais and Sologne natural regions.

The forest cover rate in the Loiret is 28%, slightly below the national average (31% for mainland France).

The project lies at the heart of the Puisaye natural region, made up of forests and ponds, and wet, green valleys. A large part of this region is characterised by sands and clays, and by a landscape of hedged farmland. Several rivers cross the Puisaye, punctuated by ponds and lakes, including the Etang de la Tuilerie, close to the project.

The Batilly-en-Puisaye project is part of the Label Bas Carbone afforestation method, a certification examined and issued by the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition.

As partof the project, the plot will be covered by a sustainable management document: the owner will adhere to the Code of Good Forestry Practice, specially designed for planting and adapted to small areas.

The specifics of the project

A landscape afforestation project

Diversity of species

The diversity of tree species in the forest makes it possible to combine more types of habitat and food for biodiversity. It also makes the forest more resilient to parasitic attacks, which are sometimes specific to certain species.

A landscape project for an attractive rural region

This project will make it possible to create a sustainably managed forest and to plant a wide variety of tree species adapted to the changing climate. Above all, this diversity of species planted in a mixture from foot to foot will help to improve the landscape, and thus develop a better natural setting for the well-being of the public visiting the region.

Ecological continuity

If the various natural environments are to be accessible and connected by species, they must be as unfragmented as possible. The continuity of the same type of natural area, such as a forest, will encourage the movement of species over a larger surface area. 

A positive impact on society and the economy

The forestry sector encompasses a wide range of occupations that cannot be relocated: forestry experts and managers, tree nurseries, forestry work companies (lumberjacks and loggers). The wood processing industry in France also encompasses a wide range of trades right through to the manufacture of the finished product.
